“Wake up! Make noise about the nature!” is the motto of the protest that will start on October 7 at 7pm in front of the National Palace of Culture (NDK). Anyone concerned about the rapid development of the construction industry in Bulgaria’s protected nature areas is invited to join the action and to bring any kind of music instruments and devices to make noise in order to loudly express their disagreement with the devastation of the Bulgarian nature.
Sofia municipality agreed to close the route proposed by the environmentalists for the protest from NDK to Sveta Nedelya square, the Presidency building to Ariana Lake in Borissova gradina park, the city hall told The Sofia Echo on October 6.
The demonstration is organised by the coalition of non-governmental environmental orgnaisations To Sustain the Nature in Bulgaria and the civic group Citizens for Rila. They called on their fellow-countrymen to disagree with all offshore-registered companies, which are “patronised by the Government“ to construct massive tourism facilities in the mountains Pirin, Rila, Rhodopi and Stara Planina, at the Black Sea sites of Irakli, Ropotamo, Ostrovite, Dourankoulak, Arkoutino, Yailata, and others. “Concrete coasts and concrete (mountain) peaks, nylon grass and poisoned food?”, the environmentalists asked.
