Nearly 96 per cent of the Bulgarians approve the introduction of a complete or partial public smoking ban, survey results show.
The European survey will continue until April 15. So far, 264 Bulgarians have answered the poll questions.
Less than four per cent of the Bulgarian participants in the poll said that smoking in public should be allowed, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.
The Health Ministry is responsible for carrying out the EU campaign, part of which is the survey.
Another part of the initiative is a green book that European commissioner for health Markos Kyprianou suggested. The document entitled Towards a Europe Free from Tobacco Smoke suggests measures against smoking in EU countries.
After April 15, EU citizens will be able to take part in a second survey. Poll participants will get to choose among 14 colour photographs that are to be printed on tobacco product packages.
