MACEDONIAN VARDAR PRESIDENT ASKS EXCUSE FOR BEATEN FAN OF BULGARIA’S CSKA
08:14 Tue 16 Oct 2007

The president of Macedonian football team Vardar Atanas Kostovski apologised to the CSKA management for the behaviour of Vardar’s fans during the match between the two teams on October 14 2007.

CSKA won 2:1, but during the first half-time a mass fight between Vardar and CSKA fans started. One CSKA fan suffered a head injury, Focus news agency reported.

Macedonian police arrived some 10 minutes after the fight began and separated the fans, but no one was arrested.

Kostovski sent CSKA a fax, expressing his gratitude for CSKA’s visit for the friendly match, which was a good opportunity for the coaches of the two teams to test the form of their players, Focus said. The fax also reads that Kostovski is very sorry for the accidents at the stands of the stadium.

Hopefully, the accident would not damage the good relations between the teams, he said.
