New fares for using the lifts on Vitosha Mountain were to be introduced from November 1, according to a decision by the board of directors of Vuzheni Linii AD, Sofia Municipality’s press office said, as quoted by investor.bg on October 15.

Vuzheni Linii (rope-ways) is the company, which operates the lifts on the slopes of the mountain that marks the southern border of Bulgaria's capital Sofia and is one of the major ski and tourist destinations in the country.

A one-way fare for the Simeonovo – Aleko passenger cabin lift would change from 3.50 leva to 4.50 leva, or by more than 28 per cent, while the two-way ticket would move up from six to seven leva, or by almost 17 per cent. To travel between two stops of the lift only would cost two leva, instead of the current 1.50, investor.bg said.

Children of up to 14 years of age and pensioners would pay two leva for a one-way fare and four leva for two-way fare after November 1. The price of 6 leva for transporting a bike would remain unchanged, while the fare for a dog would drop from 1.50 leva to one lev.
The one-way fare for the chair lift linking Dragalevtsi and Goli Vruh would jump by a third from 1.50 leva to two leva, while the two-way ticket will have a lower increase, by 20 per cent, from 2.50 leva to three leva. The corresponding fares for children and pensioners would be one lev and two leva, respectively.

The all-day ticket for bikers and snow boarders was to be changed from nine leva to 10 leva, while the half-day ticket would go from six leva to seven leva.
