Sofia University needs a state subsidy of 51 million leva to continue functioning in 2008, provost Boyan Biolchev said.
The sum was the existence minimum needed, he said as quoted by mediapool.bg.
“This is not a strike,” Biolchev said.
Whether the university will close doors or not would become clear after the macro frame for the 2008 budget was announced, according to Biolchev.
“I do not care about financial stability of a country of fools,” he said. He wanted Bulgaria to be a country where young people would like to live.
According to the provost, if the country did not allocate money for education, the sector would continue collapsing.
