UK model and reality TV star Katie Price, known as Jordan, confirmed that she and husband Peter Andre had decided to adopt a child from Bulgaria, UK media reported.
 
Jordan was determined to begin proceedings after watching the BBC4 documentary Bulgaria's Abandoned Children on the poor conditions in a social care home for mentally disabled children in the village in Mogilino, in Bulgaria.
 
Fametastic.co.uk quoted Jordan as saying to OK magazine, "I saw a documentary on TV about kids who are abandoned in Bulgaria, and it affected me because they all have a disability […] They're either blind or they have learning difficulties and their parents don't want them so they abandon them […] We're going to go over soon and I want to take a load of toys to help stimulate them and give them some love.”
 
"The programme moved me to tears. So many babies who are born with disabilities find it hard to find adoptive parents - no one wants them,"contactmusic.com quoted her as saying.
 
The main reason for Jordan and Andre’s decision was the fact that disabled children in Bulgaria are rarely able to find adoptive parents: "No one wants them," she told The Sun newspaper.
 
Katie and Peter already have three children, including Harvey, who is blind and suffers from learning disabilities as a result of septo-optic dysplasia.
