The International Olympic Committee (IOC) did not include Sofia in the shortlist of bids to continue to the second round of the selection process for host of the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Russia's Sochi, South Korea's Pyeongchang and Austria's Salzburg were the three bids to continue the competition, BGNES news agency reported.

IOC president Jacques Rogge announced the shortlist during the summit in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The other rejected bids included Jaca in Spain, Borjomi in Georgia and Almaty in Kazakhstan.

The Bulgarian delegation participating in the summit included Sofia mayor Boiko Borissov, Bulgarian Olympic Committee president Stefka Kostadinova and State Agency for Youth and Sport president Vessela Letcheva. State Tourism Agency head Mario al-Djebouri also witnessed the event.
