High investor interest in spa tourism in Bulgaria could increase revenue in this sector.
The main problem hindering investment in spa tourism is the lack of clear legislation in the sphere, head of Bulgarian spa tourism association Tsveti Milanova said as quoted by Dnevnik daily.
Spa tourism representatives have been insisting on clear regulations concerning spring water management for several years.
Bulgarian and foreign investors have shown interest in the spring waters in the country and are ready to make use of their potential, Malinova said.
Health Ministry and municipalities currently manage mineral springs.
Spring water facilities can bring revenue to their owners and to private investors as well, Malinova said.
Poorly developed infrastructure and the lack of direct flights to the countries which are potential market for Bulgarian spa tourism including Estonia and Finland also hinder the development of the sector.
