Investors have approached the new owner of Varna shipyard, Navigation Maritime Bulgare (NMB), offering partnership and purchase of shares, Transport and Communications Minister Plamen Petrov told a news conference Wednesday.
“We will look into the proposals of potential partners and decide what to do,” he said. Petrov recalled that NMB itself faces privatisation and a consultant is about to be chosen to prepare a strategy for the sale. NMB bought the shipyard at an auction last week bidding 35.5 million leva.
Representatives of Landes Bank had expressed serious intentions to place orders to the shipyard, which already had a substantial number of contracts, Petrov said. With the acquisition of the shipyard the NMB assets increased, which was good in view of the upcoming privatisation, Petrov said. Until the privatisation, the Government would continue to seek partners for the development of both companies, he said.
