Spain, Turkey and Greece would rank among the most attractive destinations for Bulgarian tourists in 2007, head of the Bulgarian Tourist Chamber (BTC) Tsvetan Tocnchev said.
Prices ranked among the factors that determined the destinations as most attractive, Tonchev said as quoted by Focus news agency.
Bulgaria’s coastal resorts offered slightly higher prices than the Greek resorts, said he.
One of the challenges that Bulgarian tourism agencies would have to deal with after the EU entry was competitiveness, said he.
The facility base Bulgaria had was new and better than the one in a number of European countries, said Tonchev.
Higher investment in PR and advertisment was needed to promote Bulgarian tourism opportunities, BTC said. Another problem the sector had to deal with was the lack of proper infrastructure, said he.
Bulgaria needed to come up with a tourism development and promotion strategy since such was missing at the moment, said Tonchev.
