Prosecutor-General Boris Velchev will announce on May 31 the results of a corruption controversy investigation, which allegedly involves Economy and Energy Minister Roumen Ovcharov and National Investigative Service (NSI) head Angel Alexandrov.
Novinar newspaper quoted a magistrate as saying that the most likely outcome is the dismissal of both officials.
The controversy was uncovered in the end of April 2007. Alexandrov said that one of the investigators in the Sofia central heating provider Toplofikatsia corruption case tried to sabotage research.
Alexandrov said that he received threats from Ovcharov, after discovering the irregularities in the Toplofikatsia investigation.
Representatives of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), of which Ovcharov is a member, said that a failure to dismiss him could result in problems for the ruling coalition.
In case Ovcharov kept his position, the opposition could use the issue to target the ruling coalition.
