The National Geographic Channel (NGC) started to air a daily hour and a half programme in Bulgarian since July 13.
Hayden Turner, the most popular reporter of NGC and famous environmentalists came to Sofia for the official launch of the project. "I have the greatest job on earth," Turner said explaining what an opportunity it has been for him to be able to travel through the entire world. The audience has a unique chance of visiting, through the television, many hot spots in the world and find out about some significant phenomena - from the earth's relief to the biosphere.
Twenty hours of programmes will be added every month, to ultimately reach 100 per cent Bulgarian programmes. The team of NGC considers Bulgaria an important destination to spread the good work undertaken by a team of over 200 people, exploring the most incredible things on the globe. Bulgaria joined the NGC "family" seven years after its establishment.
Established in 1997, NGC, the global leader in intelligent factual entertainment, now has more than 30 million viewers throughout Europe. To date, NGC Europe is seen in a total of 124 countries and 27 languages and has established its presence in the global marketplace as a provider of informative and entertaining documentary programming.
The channel's success is built on its mission to establish a brand with close affinity to viewers' thirst for information; bringing to screen leading explorers and adventurers; and offering audiences gold-standard and engaging life adventures, explorations, wildlife, peoples, cultures and natural phenomena, through the highest quality documentaries.
