Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA) said in a statement that Bulgaria should call for re-consideration of the closure of Kozloduy nuclear power plant (NPP) units.
Authorities should negotiate with the EU the closure, listed as one of the items in Bulgaria’s union accession treaty.
International experts already said that the functioning of the units was safe, BIA declared.
BIA presented to Economy and Energy Ministry a letter sent by The Confederation of European Business BUSINESSEUROPE several days ago.
The letter was related to the EU energy meeting, which took place on June6. EC has made an important step by showing its interest in nuclear energy, the letter said.
BUSINESSEUROPE said that 13 EU countries already produced nuclear energy, which did not pollute the environment and formed 32 per cent of the total EU energy production.
