India will seek the support of Bulgaria, which is a member of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), for global civil nuclear co-operation when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh meets his Bulgarian counterpart Sergei Stanishev in New Delhi on Wednesday.
“Bulgaria is a member of the NSG that has a positive attitude towards nuclear energy and is likely to take a favorable view of the India-US civil nuclear deal”, Indian daily The Economic Times quoted sources.
In an interview Stanishev welcomed the "successful completion" of the India-US civil nuclear cooperation agreement. He also stressed that India and the NSG members should "continue their dialog and information exchange" on other aspects of the India-US civil nuclear initiative.
Stanishev, who's week-long visit to India began on Monday, is the first Bulgarian prime minister to visit India in nearly 30 years.
The accent of his visit is on furthering bi-lateral business ties. Bilateral trade is estimated to be just $75 million. Bulgaria is keen to import Indian auto components, information technology and software.
