Bulgaria and India can expand their economic co-operation through exchange of technologies, know-how and establishment of joint companies, vice president of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Tsvetan Simeonov said.
Simeonov took part in a presentation of Indian economy and opportunities for trade and economic cooperation between Bulgaria and India, Focus news agency reported.
The exchange of goods between the two countries in 2006 amounted to $75 million.
Indian companies are interested in co-operation with Bulgarian alcohol producers and particularly wine producers, Indian ambassador to Bulgaria Lal Miller Dingliana said at the meeting. India's middle class, one of the main wine consumers, totalled 300 million people, Dingliana said.
India imported 3.2 million bottles of wine from France, Italy and South Africa in 2006 but it should start import from Bulgaria as well, Dingliana said.
Another topic of discussion was co-operation opportunities existing in the sphere of agriculture. India is the second largest producer of fruits and vegetables in the world.
