Two artists will hold three evenings of joint one-man shows and a jam session in the coming week in Sofia and in Varna.
Martin Loukanov of the Bulgarian band Gokkun and Peter Gossweiler from Brazil will demonstrate their creative approach to life under the title Improvisations #1 (Импровизации #1).
Loukanov, a member of the harsh noise group Gokkun, performs under the moniker Martin 1. In his work, he uses the mixer as an instrument in itself, an announcement about the event read. He has played with Franz Fjodor, Aluviana, Črno Klank and Justice Yeldham, among others.
Gossweiler, an experimental musician, has dedicated himself to drums for the past 15 years. He is also the curator of the Brazilian happening Festival Música Livre. Names with whom he has collaborated include Bernhard Gal, Zbigniew Karkowski, Batur Sonmez, and Eden.
The evenings in Sofia will be held on August 26 at 7pm at Gallery Vaska Emanouilova (15 Yanko Sakuzov Blvd behind Zaimov Park in Sofia near the puppet theatre), and on August 27 at 8pm at the club 8-ma Topka (27 Kiril i Metodii Str, entry two leva). The Wednesday event will see Loukanov and Gossweiller with free-improvisation noise performances and two new projects.
In Varna, Loukanov and Gossweiler will perform together with Nelly on bass from Gokkun and Boris on kaval from the ethno-music band Ene. The event is on August 31 at Zona 51, and entry is free-of-charge.
