Recently rocked and shaken by the Sprit of Bourgas festival, the vibrant Black Sea city is ready to host another music event – the Bourgas Blues Fest, which has a reputation of gathering the best Bulgarian blues musicians.
This year, from August 29 to 31, on a special stage at the Morska gradina (Sea garden) park, 12 bands and solo artists will perform every evening from 8pm until midnight.
On the first day, the programme features Bulgarian bands Alexandrov Ragtime Band and Djendema. Solo artist Plamen Stavrev comes next, followed by German guitarist Richard Bargel, who recorded a joint album with blues legend Charlie Musselwhite.
Blues Traffic, Zhoro Matev Band, Vasko Krupkata (Vasko the Patch) and friends, together with prominent Romanian guitarist and singer Attila Weinberger, popularly known as A.G. Weinberger, will follow on the next day.
The festival will conclude with performances by Bulgarian bands Hebros Blues Band, Tarantino and Sunrise. American artist Chris McDermott, who played at the Woodstock festival in 1999, will take the stage on the last day.
All concerts are free of charge.
