Hungarian government supported Bulgaria’s position on the trial of the five Bulgarian nurses sentenced to death for deliberate HIV infection in Libya, Hungarian prime minister Ferenc Gyurcsany told Bulgarian Economy and Energy Minister Roumen Ovcharov.
Hungary offered Bulgaria “clear and categorical support” for the nurses, Bulgarian news agency BTA said.
Ovcharov traveled on a one-day work visit to Hungary on February 25 2007.
BTA quoted president of the Hellenic Parliament Anna Benaki as saying that Greece supported the nurses and their families.
International law and humanitarian principles demanded fair resolution of the case, she said after meeting her Bulgarian counterpart Georgi Pirinski on February 26 2007.
