Investigation of the hospital construction deal, worked on by the previous National Movement Simeon II (NMSII) cabinet, was going to benefit society, NMSII spokesperson Stanimir Ilchev said.
On November 27 Bulgarian officials launched investigation of the deal, which recently led to controversy and charges of participation in corruption schemes against NMSII officials.
Bulgarian society lacked information on the issue and in some cases public opinion was manipulated, NMSII representatives said. The investigation was going to cast light on all aspects of the deal, Ilchev said as quoted by Darik Radio.
Both former prime minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg and former ministers were going to aid investigators, said Ilchev.
The project never reached the execution stage, Ilchev said, and NMSII hoped that the investigation was going to prove the lack of irregularities and planning violations.
Though previously the project was connected to Saxe-Coburg, it was a national rather than personal initiative, connected to healtchare and involved both the previous and the current cabinets, said Ilchev.
