Hollywood producers hope to tell the story of the five Bulgarian medics who spent eight years in custody in Libya, alleged to have caused the deliberate HIV infection of more than 400 children in a hospital in Benghazi.
Company Sixth Sense Productions said that the six Bulgarian medics had sold the rights to their life stories, Bulgarian National Radio reported. The film is to be titled The Six From Benghazi: The World Must Learn Of This Injustice.
Sixth Sense Productions previously co-operated to find funds for Oscar-nominated film Hotel Rwanda.
This is not only a Bulgarian story, but a human tragedy from which the world must learn a lesson, a Sixth Sense representative told Reuters.
Shortly after the company chooses the scriptwriter, producers will come to Sofia to meet the medics and their families.
