Bulgaria’s tour operators experienced a successful and unexpected interest from tourists travelling to and from Bulgaria during over the Easter holiday.
Aero Travel together with a competitive company on the excursion market, Sunshine Tours, set up an 80-seat charter flight for Bulgarians, mostly married couples and families to visit the country of Tunisia.
Tourists had the chance to experience diving, sailing, and fishing along the vast stretches of glistening, white sandy Mediterranean beaches covering an 810-mile coast. The tour enabled tourists to enjoy beach resorts like Tabarka, Hammamet, Sousse and Jerba.
“We have had a time to remember and a place to adore,” Boryana Stoyanova, trade director of Aero Travel said. The group included a Belgian family and families from all over the country. Due to the high interest in the exotic holiday in Tunisia, the agency is preparing for the next holidays to come around May 24. Other favourite destinations for tourists from Bulgaria seemed to be Santa Cruz de Tenerife and other Spanish islands – the Canary Islands in particular.
Elfy Tour offered a bus excursion to Istanbul and the Prince Islands for travellers. “Even though there was a disinterest in tourists going to Greece, we have had a group which showed particular interest and satisfaction from their trip,” Yulia Markovska, a partner at the agency said. Some of the frequently visited places were Bulgaria’s neighbouring countries.
Foreigners were also offered a taste of sea, mountain and rural tourism in the country. The villages of Bozhentsi, Arbanassi, Ribaritsa and Kovatchevitza hosted mostly Americans, Italians and French people. “Summer resorts are getting ready for the coming high season,” a receptionist at the Golden Sands Zdravets hotel said.
