Voter turnout during the second round of presidential elections on October 29 was highest in regions with population of different ethnic origin, mediapool.bg reported.
Data of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) showed that voter turnout was lowest in Sofia, where it reached only 35.1 per cent. During the first round of elections it reached 38 per cent.
Exit poll results showed that President Georgi Purvanov won a second term in office receiving the support of nearly 78 per cent of the voters. Ultra-nationalist movement Ataka leader Volen Siderov received almost 23 per cent of the votes.
Voter turnout in Turkey was unexpectedly high, mediapool.bg reported. Nearly 52 000 people voted of which 98 per cent cast a ballot for Purvanov.
Purvanov got a 100 per cent support in several Bulgarian villages, mediapool.bg reported.
