Bulgarian customs officers seized 1.1 kg of heroin at Kalotina border checkpoint, Focus news agency reported.

A 50-year old woman tried to smuggle the heroin out of the country. She was travelling from Sofia to Germany's Hamburg, Focus said.

The woman attracted the officers' attention by acting nervously during the custom inspection, Focus said.

The woman had hidden the heroin in an elastic belt tied around her waist and hips.

The heroin was worth nearly 200 000 leva, Focus said.
