Customs officers at Malko Turnovo border checkpoint seized heroin worth more than 0.5 million leva.

The narcotic substance was distributed in four packages with a total weight of 2.058 kg, Focus news agency reported.

A Bulgarian citizen was carrying the heroin in her handbag. The woman travelled to Turkey by bus.

The tests performed on the spot revealed the substance found in the handbag was heroin, Focus reported.

Also today customs officials at Koulata checkpoint seized 0.5 kg heroin worth nearly 125 000 leva.

The substance was found in a vehicle having Bulgarian registration number.
