Eurofootball, the Greek Intralot-owned sports bookmaker, took over peer company Eurobet, the antitrust watchdog press office said in a press release on Wednesday.
The same day the Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC) gave the go-ahead to the transaction.
According to the CPC press release, the deal should decrease the volume of illegal online betting and, simultaneously, limit the illegal financial flows.
At the same time, the transaction is unlikely to have an adverse effect on competition on the sports betting market because the companies offer bets in disparate betting segments.
The acquisition of Eurobet is set to increase Eurofootball's sales network.
Eurofootball is a licensed provider of sports bets.
