Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin met Greek minister of employment and social protection Savvas Tsitouridis and discussed cooperation opportunities between both countries.
Tsitouridis is on work visit to Bulgaria. Labour and Social Policy Minister Emilia Maslarova took part in the meeting as well, Bulgarian National Radio reported.
The Greek minister is the first social affairs official from an EU country visiting Bulgaria after its EU accession.
The ministers discussed the decision of Greek government to impose a two-year restrictive period on Bulgarian migrants wanting to work in Greece.
Kalfin said that he hoped that the problem will be solved in near future. So far 11 EU countries introduced an open door policy for workers from Bulgaria.
Tsitouridis said that the competitiveness of the EU market should go hand in hand with keeping social consensus. Bulgaria and Greece have many similarities in their social policy, Tsitouridis said.
