Bulgaria will provide additional 250 000 leva to cover expenditure in the trial of the five Bulgarian nurses sentenced to death for intentional HIV infection in Libya.

The money will be used to pay for the stay and work of lawyers in Libya, as well as for the medical aid that the nurses receive.

Government has been providing additional funds from the budget for expenses in the trial, Foreign Ministry said.

On March 1 political formations in opposition called for the drafting of a national strategy in case relations with Libya worsen.

Novoto Vreme and political club Nova Desnitsa sent a letter to Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev inquiring about actions to be undertaken in case of changed diplomatic situation.

Parties also asked about the number of Bulgarians living and working in Libya, as well as about the conditions for entering, working in and leaving Libya.
