The conditions in the mountains on December 31 were good for tourism, the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) announced.
The wind in the higher mountain parts would reach three to four m per second, the temperatures would be around minus five degrees Celsius, MRS told Focus news agency.
All ski runs in the mountain resorts were machine groomed and the facilities were working, except for the gondola in Borovets, which would be closed by noon on December 31. On January 1 2008, the lift to Martinovi Baraki would be closed until noon.
In Pamporovo, the temperature was minus one degree Celsius, the weather was sunny and quiet. The snow coverage reached 45cm. All facilities were functioning, except for the Smolyanski ezera ski runs.
MRS advised those, who would celebrate the New Year in mountain chalets, to leave on time to avoid being overtaken by the night in the open air.
Avalanche danger in some areas in the mountains still existed. Skiers and tourists should keep to the marked runs and tracks, MRS said.
