GERB LEADER EXPRESSES CONCERN ABOUT BULGARIA'S MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
19:37 Tue 20 Nov 2007 - Spasena Baramova

Citizens for the European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) leader Tsvetan Tsvetanov told UK ambassador to Bulgaria Steve Williams in a meeting he was worried about the way the last elections in the country had been carried out, Bulgarian News Agency BTA said.

Tsvetanov said this was a current issue for Bulgarian political parties and hoped all of them would find the political will not to allow vote-buying and corruption of democratic elections to occur again.

The meeting with ambassador Williams, who recently started his mandate in Bulgaria, was the first of a series of work meetings to get to know leaders of all political parties in the country, BTA reported.

Issues of Bulgarian public and political life and possibilities for co-operation between the UK embassy and representatives of GERB structures were discussed at the meeting.

GERB's responsibilities and its role in the unifying processes in right-wing politics were also discussed.
