Bulgaria's national football team concluded its participation in the Euro 2008 qualifications with a victory by defeating Slovenia on November 21.
The Bulgarians won 2:0 over Slovenian hosts in a last match of the G group. Blagoy Georgiev and Dimitar Berbatov scored the goals for the guests.
With this victory, Bulgaria ended up third in the group with 25 points, Dnevnik daily said.
Bulgaria's coach Dimitar Penev said there was no tension in the last game for neither of the teams and that they both played with the thought of victory.
„It was harder for us because Slovenia lost its chances to qualify pretty early on. The game was for Bulgarian fans, for Bulgarian football and for Bulgaria's ranking for the next qualifications. Therefore it was important to win. Now our footballers will understand by themselves what it means to miss a big forum,“ Penev said.
