General dialogue concerning priorities is needed, acting under pressure leads to deadlock, Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev said.
On June 15, Stanishev took part in a forum during which President Georgi Purvanov presented the annual economic report and a new strategy for speeded economic development.
The strategy and pubic discussion of new priorities after Bulgaria’s EU entry were necessary, Stanishev said.
Previously, social groups held back their demands and now pensioners, teachers, scientists and medics are expressing their needs and problems at the same time.
To solve these problems, Bulgaria needs comprehensive debate on fund allocation in the long-term, Stanishev said.
Yielding to pressure creates risk of financial destabilisation and high inflation, he said.
