FURTHER THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED IN BULGARIA DURING THE WEEK

The weather in Bulgaria will remain poor throughout the coming week and the country will see intense rainfalls and thunderstorms.

The situation in Sofia is still serious after the weekend downpours that caused floods and hindered traffic.

Emergency teams are draining flooded houses. Firefighters and volunteers from various parts of the country are helping the Sofia teams.

Iskar River is under strict monitoring, since the level of the Pancherevo dam has increased.

The downpours also caused landslides. One occurred close to a residential building in Sofia’s Iztok district.

Bistritsa district residents signaled of flooded houses and yards. Vladaiska River overflowed. Bridges are still unusable.

Other cities including Smolyan, Pernik, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora and Pazatdzhik also reported of floods.
