On June 27 the French national assembly is expected to ratify Bulgaria and Romania's EU accession treaty.
A final decision on the membership of the two countries would be taken in Paris on October 2, when the French senate would examine the accession treaty, Bulgarian National Radio reported.
The accession treaty needs to get the approval of all 25 member states for Bulgaria and Romania's EU entry to become fact. Nineteen member countries already completed the ratification procedures.
Finnish president Tarja Halonen said it was very important for the two applicant countries to show reforms progress and convince member states they were ready to join the EU.
Austrian newspaper Der Standart quoted Halonen as saying reforms needed to continue once Bulgaria and Romania became EU members.
On July 1 Finland would start its EU presidency term. Some of the main priorities of the term would be continuation of the enlargement process and the start of negotiations with Turkey, Halonen said.
