FRAPORT TO INVEST 20MLN IN TWO BULGARIAN AIRPORTS

Fraport, concessionaire for the Bulgarian airports in Bourgas and Varna, announced it would invest 20 million euro over 2008.

The announcement was made by Fraport's Chief Executive Director Andreas Helfer, Dnevnik daily reported on November 5.

Fraport has planned for 2008 to invest in new fire engines, replacement of the electrical system at both airports, and invest in qualification of staff, Helfer said.
Improvement of the infrastructure at Varna's airport have been underway, he said.

Over the 2007 summer season, 19 new airline companies started regular flights to the two Bulgarian airports, including price-fighters like Germanwings, Wizzair, Centralwings, Sky Europe and Norwegian Air Shuttle.

During the winter season, daily flights between Sofia and Bourgas would be maintained. As of winter 2008/2009, additionally regular international flights would be maintained during the winter season, Dnevnik daily said.
