11:25 Mon 12 Nov 2007 - Elitsa Savova

France would open its labour market for Bulgarians and Romanians in 88 defined professions, French ambassador to Bulgaria Etienne de Poncins said.

French labour market was already partially opened for workers from Bulgaria and Romania since the EU accession of the two countries on January 1 2007.

Until now, Bulgarians and Romanians were allowed in 62 professions in construction, restaurant and hotel business, agriculture and trade sectors, among others.

The new opening would go into force on December 1 2007, BGNES news agency said. Thus Bulgarian professionals from 150 defined professions would be allowed to work legally in France.

The new professions included in the list of the French government required higher qualified professionals.

The new list was made to meet French needs of labour in specifics rectors.

Each Bulgarian, who was qualified enough and wants to work in France, would have to contact French National Employment Agency (ANPE) or a specific employer.

De Poncins said that he hoped a new extension of the list would follow.

France was obliged to completely open its labour market to Bulgarian and Romanians in 2012, BGNES said.
