17:26 Wed 28 Mar 2007

Police detained four men in the coastal city of Varna for organising a women trafficking scheme.

Bulgarian investigators worked together with their French colleagues to uncover the scheme that dealt with trafficking and sexual exploitation of women.

French and Bulgarian officers investigated the case over the past year and a half.

As a result of the police operation, European officials issued an order for the detention of the four suspects.

On March 27, Varna Regional Court confirmed the detention.

Police will present more information on the case during a press conference on March 29.
