The members of parliament who left the National Movement for Stability and Progress (NDSV) prepared for a serious battle to retain their places in parliamentary committees, in which they have been participating until recently through the NDSV quota, Dnevnik daily said.

The newly formed Bulgarian New Democracy (BND) was hоlding unofficial talks with representatives of the biggest ruling party – the Bulgarian Socialist Party BSP, in order to receive their support against NDSV intentions to impose its people both in the management and in the composition of the committees, Dnevnik daily quoted sources in Parliament. According to them, the socialists were inclined to preserve the positions of part of the MPs who left NDSV, but at the same time avoided undertaking concrete engagements in order not to have conflicts with their NDSV coalition partners.

The biggest battle would probably be the one for the leading position at the key Internal Security and Public Order Committee, headed by Nikolai Svinarov who left NDSV. In spite of Svinarov's statements that he did not insist on keeping the position of chairman, BND were determined to do so, Dnevnik daily commented.
However, NDSV did not want to give up the position and according to unofficial information was preparing Mincho Spassov to be its new chairman.
BND did not want to give up its other leading position, that of the Children, Youth and Sports Affairs Committee chairman Svetoslav Spassov. According to members of parliament, Spassov was already bragging BSP promised him he would keep his position, Dnevnik daily said.
