The number of foreign tourist visits to Bulgaria in 2006 exceeded five million for the first time, deputy head of the State Agency for Tourism (SAT) Stanslav Novakov said.
Nearly 5.158 million foreigners spent their vacation in Bulgaria in 2006. Revenue from the foreigners' visits reached two billion euro, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.
Various foreign consulates already presented information on the number of tourists who visited Bulgaria in 2006. The number of Polish visitors, increased just like the number of Russians and Ukrainians, Focus news agency reported.
Nearly 70 per cent more Norwegians visited Bulgaria as compared to the visitor figures for 2006. Bulgarian coastal resorts were among the most preferred destinations, Focus news agency reported.
Novakov took part on January 15 in the Caravan-Moto Touristik (CMT) tourism expo in Stuttgart. Days of Bulgarian culture were organised as part of the forum.
Bulgaria is presented as a country having various tourism opportunities among which summer, winter, spa, golf, eco and cultural tourism.
