Thick fogs over the past several months, which closed Sofia, Varna and Plovdiv airports, increased the number of flights handled at Bourgas Airport.

Bourgas Airport accepted 65 per cent more flights in the 2007/2008 winter season than a year ago, the airport administration announced.

The airport serviced more than 630 flights between November 2007 and January 15 2008.

The number of flights serviced at Bourgas Airport increased because thick fogs over the past several months repeatedly closed Sofia, Varna and Plovdiv airports, investor.bg said.

Bourgas Airport’s fuel supply company delivered 78 051 tons of kerosene in 2007, which was a record for Bulgarian airports.

The largest cargo air-planes Ruslan carried out an “unprecedented” 70 flights to and from the airport since November 2007, investor said.
