Famous Bulgarian violinist Vasko Vassilev will stage his first tour in Bulgaria in late November and early December 2007.
Vassilev has performed numerous concerts in the country, but has not toured Bulgaria.
The tour, FreeMix, would consist of popular melodies as well as new repertoire, combining, among others, Balkan and Bulgarian folklore, Spanish flamenco, Argentinean tango and gypsy rhythms, netinfo.bg said.
Six musicians, who have played with Madonna, Spice Girls, Duran Duran, Take That and Chambao would accompany Vassilev on stage.
The concerts will be held on November 28 and 30 and on December 1 and 2, respectively in Veliko Turnovo, Blagoevgrad, Plovdiv and Sofia. Tickets for the concert in Sofia cost 30, 40 and 80 leva. In the other cities prices are 10 and 15 leva.
FreeMix coincides with the release of Vassilev’s new album Free, which is to be on November 26 2007. The album contains nine new compositions and the bonus video Libertango, part of Vassilev’s co-operation with double world champions in figure skating Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviiski.

A continuing war against talents in Bulgaria – now targeting the famous violinist Vasko Vassilev
George Chaldakov, MD
“We have to be able to excuse one's sin being talented.”
Andrey Kolmogorov (1903-1987)
Recently, Vasko Vassilev wrote in a national newspaper a comment entitled “Even Domingo cannot be director of our opera theater. Five diplomas I have are insufficient to enter the competition” (“24 chasa”, 19 October 2007 - certainly, my feedback perosnal opionion was not published in this 24 hours in censorship machine, as "24 chasa" newspaper is!).
Paradox-1: talent and (political, institutional) administration – the more one is talented, the more is obstructed by the administration. This also the case in a recently announced competition for director of the National Opera Theater in Sofia - the extraordinary talented Vasko Vassilev is cynically discharged even to enter the competition! Unfortunately, this factology being also known to Mr Stefan Danailov, Minister of Culture, but he is, traditionally, doing nothing to stop such a brutality over talented Bulgarians (epecially those who not share his political frame of mind). While Maestro Vassilev is supported by directors of Opera theaters in London, Sidney, Hamburg, and Washington...
Then, how (and why!) the talented Bulgarian emigrants to return home, once our institutions and politicians are so much brutal to them! The story is the same in the field of science and education. At long last, we have to say to Bulgarian administration:
„Carthago delenda est!”, as Mark Caton Sr (234-149 BC) used to repeat in Rome’s Senate. Indeed, it was happened in 146 BC – hence, it is our turn now!
