Changes to Bulgaria's sports regulations envision the provision of financial awards for Bulgarian Olympic and world champions.
A number of athletes suffered under-payment once they ended their carrier, head of the youth and sports committee Svetoslav Spasov said.
Other suggestions include the provision of 0.5 per cent of the national budget for the development of sports, Focus Sport agency reported.
New regulations will also point out the sports facilities of national importance. Among these are Vassil Levski national stadium, Han Asparuh horse racing base and all facilities under the management of the National Sports Academy.
A national sports council will manage and co-ordinate all activities and will be responsible for supervising Olympic sports federations, said Spasov.
