Leading Bulgarian journalists called for a ‘last fight of the media against secret services’ on December 5 2006, mediapool.bg reported.

Journalists said that the entire classified archive, containing information on communist times, should be opened.

Bulgaria’s media coalition will carry out a rally under the slogan Silent Voices in front of the National Assembly building in Sofia on the morning of December 6.

Through the demonstration, journalists would support MPs in taking the right decision, media representatives said.

Dossier opening draft law should be approved without amendments allowing the withholding of classified information if it threatened national security, journalists said.

Georgi Lozanov, head of the media coalition said that authorities used the clichéd statement on national security only to protect some officials, which was against national security itself.
