The Bulgarian figure skating pair Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviiski finished third on Sunday in dancing pairs in the sixth and final Grand Prix event of the International Skating Union in the Japanese city of Kumamoto. First at the NHK Trophy were Marina Anissina and Gwendal Peizerat from France, followed by Lithuania’s Margarita Drobiazko and Povilas Vanagas.
Among the men, Bulgaria’s Ivan Dinev was third, preceded by Japan’s Takeshi Honda and Canada’s Jeffrey Buttle. Thanks to his third position, Dinev qualified among the elite six for the ISU’s Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, to be held from December 13-16 in Kitchener, Canada. The other five participants will be Russia’s Yevgeni Pluschchenko and Alexei Yagudin, Americans Todd Eldredge and Timothy Goebel, and Japan’s Takeshi Honda. Denkova and Staviiski will also take part in the gala tournament in Canada.
