FERRYBOAT BULGARIA – ROMANIA TO START IN OCTOBER 2007
10:45 Fri 14 Sep 2007

The ferryboat between Bulgarian Silistra and Romanian Calarasi is planned to start working from the beginning of October 2007.

This has been the result of a meeting on Thursday October 13 between Regional development and Public Works Minister Assen Gagaouzov and his Romanian colleague László Borbély, reported Bulgarian National Radio (BNR).

Not yet decided were the taxes which would be levied for the use of the transport.

Prices are expected to be equivalent to those on other Bulgarian – Romanian ferryboats, or even lower.

On both sides harbour complexes and infrastructures have been constructed under the PHARE programme. Total investment has been more than 13mln leva.

The transport connection will use two boats, one Romanian and one Bulgarian. Both boats were launched on Thursday September 13, first the Romanian boat in Calarasi, later the Bulgarian in Silistra.
