The six-month-old baby shot in Sofia on the night of July 11 2007 is the son of Nenad Milenkovic, boss of the Serbian Zemunski clan, one of the most powerful criminal organisations in Serbia .
The baby was wounded in the hand in a shooting, in which his mother and two other men were also injured, mediapool.bg said.
The mother, Boyana Rogosic, presented herself as Maria Rogosic while in Bulgaria . The injured men were of Macedonian origin and were related to the Zemunski clan.
According to witnesses, three masked men attacked the victims, targeting the two Macedonians. The attackers fired more than 10 shots.
One of the victims was wounded in the head and was sent to Sofia ’s Military Medical Academy . The rest were hospitalised in Pirogov emergency centre and were reported to be out of danger.
Bulgaria’s Interior Ministry suspects that the attackers were Macedonian citizens, mediapool.bg said.
Police found three pistols, drugs and money in the lodgings of the victims.
Milenkovic was arrested in Bulgaria in 2003 and expelled. Media reports said that he was linked to a drug smuggling ring on the Balkans. Interpol has alleged that he was linked to more than 20 murders.
