After long debates Bulgaria's National Assembly approved on second reading changes in transplantation law, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.
Based on a demand from rightist parties the law changes stated that the family of a potential donor would take a decision in case the person had not made a personal denial in written form.
Ninety-one MPs voted in favor of the changes, 24 voted against and 17 refrained from voting, BTA said.
According to the previous donation law a person willing to be a donor had to make a declaration. As a result only 1500 people declared they would donate organs, tissues or cells.
