EXPERT TEAMS ASSESS EARTHQUAKE DAMAGES IN SOUTHERN BULGARIA

Expert committees evaluate the earthquake construction damages in the Kurdjali regions. Tremors with magnitude 4.2 on the Richter scale damaged houses on February 21.

Teams will also examine dams in the region for potential threat. The checks would be needed as soon snow is expected to start melting and water levels will rise, Focus news agency reported.

The seismological centre of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences registered new tremors in the Kurdjali region today. The epicenter is 200 km southeast of Sofia. The magnitude of the quake is 2.7 on the Richter scale.

Representatives of the State Agency for Civil Security said the latest earthquake did not produce damages.
