Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev, who is in Brussels for EU high-level summit met representative of the Party of European Socialists (PES).

The PES summit precedes the European Council summit on June 21 and 22.

PES gathered representatives from Austria, Hungary, Germany, Italy, France and other countries.

Leaders discussed priorities for 2008 and decided to draft a 2009 manifesto. The document will be drafted by four workgroups.

Stanishev heads one of the workgroups, responsible for the Europe and World chapter. Other issues that the manifesto includes will be European integration, new socialist Europe and saving the planet.

PES leaders said that upon its finalisation, the document will be publicly available for discussion in all EU countries. The aim will be to show people that they can take part in the drafting of European policies.
