In an interview for the German newspaper Bild, Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev said that the European businesses trusted Bulgaria.
European companies have invested over 755 million euro, which is twice more than past year's investment, Stanishev said.
Stanishev said that with the help of EU experts the Interior Ministry was already working on making crime combat more efficient. Police operations executed with foreign help resulted in successful investigation of human trafficking, drug smuggling and money laundering.
Bulgaria's EU accession would not threaten the work positions of German employees, Stanishev said. He said that fears of production re-location to Bulgaria were ungrounded as Germany had not resorted before to cheaper markets like China and Korea. Bulgaria's EU accession is unlikely to change the country's economic policy, said Stanishev.
Stanishev added that Bulgaria's entry would enrich the union as the country had a unique culture heritage and one the most rapidly growing economies in Europe.
