09:00 Mon 28 Aug 2006

At a special news conference held in Park Hotel Moscow in Sofia on August 16, Diema Vision announced that they had been awarded exclusive broadcast rights in Bulgaria for the UEFA Euro 2008.

All 31 matches of the Euro finals in Austria and Switzerland will be shown live on both of Diema Vision’s free-to-air channels Diema 2 and Diema Plus. Simultaneously, all 31 matches will be broadcast on Diema Vision’s pay TV channel Diema Extra.

This will be complemented by additional programs on all three channels, including match re-runs and daily highlights show.

Commenting on the agreement, UEFA CEO, Lars-Christer Olsson said: “Diema Vision is a young and ambitious player in the Bulgarian TV market that has recently invested a lot in the broadcast of important football properties, such as the English Premier League, the Spanish Primera Division and the French League 1, as well as the FA Cup and matches of the England national team.

“Diema Vision has committed to an extensive coverage of UEFA Euro 2008 that encompasses additional programming on top of the live broadcast of all matches. Together with Diema Vision, we will offer an excellent broadcast platform for the next European championship to the benefit of all football fans in Bulgaria.”

The broadcast rights to the UEFA European Football Championships are being sold on a market-by-market basis for the first time in the 46-year history of the tournament.
Sportfive is UEFA's exclusive sales agent for the exploitation of European broadcast rights relating to Euro 2008.
